Year 8 News

The first 4 weeks have been a hive of activity.  Read on to find out what has transpired.

The School Powhiri was an amazing experience to be a part of.  The Year 8 students stepped up to the challenge and warmly welcomed the Year 7 Students into the Balmacewen Whanau.  A special well done to those students who were involved in the Karanga, leading the Haka,  Whaikorero and the playing of instruments.  Your leadership role was greatly appreciated.

A number of classes have visited the Portobello Aquarium and all staff would like to thank the parents and caregivers who made this possible.  The action shots show how much the students enjoyed the hands on experiences when learning about the special features of animals.   Our next Survivor activity is the visit to the Butterfly House at the Otago Museum.

The teachers are enjoying the more settled nature to our weekly programme.  Launching into our literacy and numeracy routines is our current focus, especially providing differential learning experiences to meet the needs of all students.
