Food Technology

Term 2 has seen some amazing flavours being used in a variety of recipes as all students have been modifying recipes.

The Year 7's have been working hard on their second unit in Foods. The focus was to modify the recipe and add flavour and texture to the product.  First up were the Anzac Biscuits which came home to be evaluated by the family, followed by the bread.  Then muffins with a surprise in the middle and finally burgers.  We also made some Kiwifruit Jam, writing our own labels.

The Year 8's have been working with pastry over the past few weeks. They made Choux pastry and turned them into cream puffs or chocolate eclairs. Puff pastry made some apple turnovers.  Short pastry made little fruit tarts or mini pies. They also made some iced biscuits. Lots of new techniques were trialled and hopefully some food made it home!

Over the past couple of lessons the Y8's have been doing a Mystery Box Challenge with celebrity judges.  Its been a lot of fun watching them decide what to cook and how to present it.

All students in Food Tech this term will be bringing home their workbooks this week.  It contains all the recipes and their evaluations and their report.
