Term 2 in Fabrics

It has been a busy term in Fabrics with Year 7 students making cushions and softies and Year 8 students completing a variety of different projects.

Year 7 groups learned how to use a sewing machine before passing a driving licence.  They then designed and made an inner and an outer cushion using patches and/or stripes in their choice of plain and patterned fabric.

On completion of the cushions, we went straight onto Softie making.  A variety of hand stitches were learned before students designed then created their soft toy using a variety of hand and machine stitching.

Over the term, Year 8 students have worked on a variety of sewing projects including flowers, doorstops, pencil cases, lunch/toilet bags and screen printing t-shirts.
