The leaves make a satisfying crunch as I sit on the river bank. The crisp air brushes against my cheeks and a page of my book turns over slowly. The stream bounces along the rocks. The sun melts away like ice cream, into the horizon to make an amber sky. Dappled light shines through the trees, the remaining leaves cling to the tree holding on using all their energy. Soggy leaves, are shades of amber, fiery red and dusty browns, coat the roots of a huge oak tree. The smell of rotting leaves fills the air and birds weave through the branches. The sun continues to slip behind the horizon and soon stars will fill the sky; I want this moment to last forever.  Emily Cone - Room 8

As I trundled through the damp forest, the fiery blaze of leaves crackled beneath my feet. The smell of the old rotting pine needles filled my nostrils. The cool breeze nipped my skin as I pull my hoodie tightly around me. Ducks pass by overhead in a perfectly feathered triangle as they attempt to avoid the elusive hunters below. The dewy grass winked at me as a large cluster of brightly coloured leaves float down from the stark branches above. I never want to leave this scenic bliss but sadly my walk had come to an end. I can't wait for tomorrow's walk!!

Stevie McKenzie - Room 8

I stared up at the gnarled trunk of an old oak, wondering who stripped it of its vibrant clothing of leaves. The golden light put the dishevelled husks of the leaves into high contrast, their shadows casting a sinister shadow across the crisp, cold breeze. The leaves chased each other in circles, creating a whirling, writhing mass of brown, gold and red. I pulled my coat more snugly around me, and set off towards my house, missing summer already.

Oskar Doidge - Room 8

As they lay looking on the sidewalk looking all innocent. They did not deserve to die. One touch could turn into dust. It looked like the ground was covered in lava. The naked trees stood there wondering

where their clothes had gone. Emily Room 6

Golds and maroons mingle together

So deep and rich I could look into them forever

Purple shows clear against the brown

Standing out as it flutters down, down, down

Little gemstones cling to the trees

The air hums quietly with the bees

The trees stand bare, yet tall and proud

They creak in the wind with a gentle sound

A rainbow of colours lie in a heap

They were so still! Are they asleep?

The birds sing a morning chorus

You can see them clearly in the leafless forest

Maroon clashes with gold, green, brown

As the leaves fight to stay off the ground

Summer has finally lost its grip

And the Autumn rain goes drip, drip, drip. Eila Room 6

Piercing through the pine tree

veins popping,leaves dropping

a rain of fire drops onto the ground

So many stories

it could of told

stories about the waves

of wind and the places they’ve been

Have you seen it?

the leaves that have flown?

have you seen how far

they’ve gone from home ?

No

You haven’t seen the storms

it fought

leaves are strong,stronger than me

and you in the battles
