Fun, friendly and fast.

This term is flying by. Our students have enjoyed camps, museum visits, Toitu visits, marae visits and sports events as part of our busy term one programme. It has been great to see the high level of enthusiasm and engagement throughout the school. Students and teachers are also embracing our focus on project based learning utilising new digital skills and problem solving. Our CAMLAB (creating and making lab) is a vibrant place and now we have extended its reach by installing "mobile maker stations" in each block.  

Our students are encountering many new skills and knowledge whilst developing creative outcomes to problems. I am amazed at the ease in which our students pick up and personalise new digital technology. It's great to see. Our teachers are also challenging themselves to learn the same skills. It has been both rewarding and fun to watch teachers learning alongside their students.

We are set to roll our our winter sports programme. Typically we are inundated with keen students wanting to play a number of sports. The high numbers we receive does put pressure on our ability to find coaches and managers. If you are able to help our sports teams in any way please make contact. It may mean the difference between us entering a team or not.

Hopefully by now, you have booked an interview time with your child's teacher. Term one interviews are an important first get together where you can discuss initial observations and some early learning goals. If you haven't found a suitable time next week, please contact your class teacher to arrange an alternative.

Finally a quick reminder about road safety. The front gate at 3.00pm can be a very busy place. If you do drive in this area please respect yellow lines, driveways and bus stops and don't stop there. U-turns in front of the school gate also create a dangerous situation for students and other drivers.
