30 students were divided evenly between Balmacewen Blue and Balmacewen Red. They trained together during the week and supported each other on the sidelines as they were in different pools. We are lucky enough to have experienced league players in Geoff Lima and Layne to help and advise us with tips and strategies.
Balmacewen Red had a tough first game against Taieri and went down 7-5, but that was the only game they lost in pool play.
Balmacewen Blue won all 4 of their pool games and went into the semi-finals excited.
Blue and Red played each other in a tight semi-final going try for try. Both teams used all their players and it was a great game with Blue just edging out Red by 1 try.
Blue now plays Tahuna in the final that will played next term.
It was amazing to see all the players out there enjoying themselves and we had lots of support on the sidelines, which was awesome to see.
