It was great to see so many new players trying Waterpolo this term. We had two teams in the beginners grade, two in the B grade and one in the the A grade.
The Gold team had a successful season in the A grade going through the competition without a loss. Their closest competition was from Columba college - winning 2-1 in a close game during the round and then firing up during the final to win 7-1 last Thursday to secure the Term One trophy. Well done to all the Gold team players who displayed teamwork, grit and determination in their defence and skilful play in attack.
The Blue water polo team had a successful campaign and resulted in them coming third in their grade. The team grew as players and had a lot of camaraderie and fun. Balmac Green had a great first term in the pool. The team improved significantly in both attack and defence. The players were always positive, supportive and listened well. Thanks to the parents for their ongoing support and help. The highlight for Mr Henderson was seeing the team develop an understanding of the game and being so supportive of each other. thanks for a fun term.
Our two beginners teams; Balmac Red and Balmac Yellow, made excellent progress throughout the term learning the game and developing their skills. Many of them are keen to take on the full pool challenge in Term Four. Balmac Red ended up winning the beginners game at the end of the season! Well done to all players and we look forward to many players returning in Term Four.
A reminder that Otago Waterpolo run trainings throughout the Winter and we would encourage our players to join Otago waterpolo to continue to build their skills. If not, it is important to try and train for swimming fitness throughout the winter also.
Thank you also to the teachers who coached and managed the waterpolo teams.
Thanks
