Camouflage Crabs, Sea Urchins, Starfish & Many More - Room 8's Aquarium Trip. 

Our 'Rocky Sea Shore' unit has been kick started following Wednesday's trip to the Aquarium. We had a fantastic day learning all about the creatures of the sea and discovering the adaptations they have to aid survival on the sea shore. 

There was no holding back the Room 8 students as they dived into the 'touch tank' finding camouflage crabs, a range of starfish, sea urchins and many more creatures beneath the rocks. 

For many students the highlight of the trip was dissecting a squid towards the end of the day. Emotions were mixed as scissors and tweezers were given out to help the dissection process. The dissection allowed us to identify the gender and recognise the squids adaptations. (I don't think I'll be ordering squid for a while)

Overall this was a fantastic learning experience and the perfect ignitor as we start our theme work for the term. We had a large number of parent helpers making the trip possible, so a big thank you goes out to them.
