ROOM 5 HEAD TO TOITU OTAGO MUSEUM AND THE CHINESE GARDENS.

Last Friday Room 5 took a trip down to Toitu Museum and the Chinese Garden as part of our Aspire inquiry for Term 1.
Our inquiry for this term is Tūrangawaewae our belonging, our identity. Our museum trip started off learning about some of the early life of Māori in the Otago area and some of the early settlers who came from overseas to live and work in Dunedin. It was really interesting to hear some local stories of how people lived from day to day and some of the challenges they faced back then. Our educator, Sara Sinclair, examined the class' ancestry with a world map to visually show how we came together as a whānau in Room 5. One of the highlights of the day was taking a hīkoi around the Chinese gardens.
