Year 7 - Tuitui Ringa
By Angela Burden | Posted: Tuesday September 14, 2021
Our Year 7 learners have added hand sewing to their Fabrics toolkit. They designed and created a unique Softie using polar-fleece. Students were challenged to make their own paper templates and to explore a variety of hand sewing techniques.
We found out that tuitui ringa takes time, practise and patience. We know mistakes are part of the learning process but accepting "progress over perfection" can be really tough.
Unfortunately, our timeline was reduced and not all students completed their ambitious Softie, however, there was still a lot of wonderful learning and skill development to be celebrated.
All students who would like to finish their project are invited to come back in to the Fabrics room during a lunchtime or after-school on a Rāpare (until 4pm).
You will see some very cool completed Softies in the photo section and some that are under construction.
Love your mahi Year 7!
