Marshmallow Challenge

Last week block three learned about physics and the sciences of structures. We started by looking at a powerpoint about the Christchurch Cardboard Cathedral and how they made the structure and what materials they used. Then we all got a challenge to make our own tallest structure with only 20 spaghetti sticks, one meter of masking tape and one meter of string. Once we had completed our structure we had to balance a marshmallow on top (the hardest part was not eating the marshmallow). We had lots of problems with our structures because the spaghetti sticks were so fragile they snapped all the time which could ruin the structure. We had to be very careful and persevere! We really enjoyed this activity and we learned a lot!
