Pink Shirt Day!

Tēnā koutou katoa

It was great to see Balmacewen staff and students support Pink Shirt Day and speak up, stand together to stop bullying last week. The laughter heard around the school as everyone took interest in each others pink attire, made for a fun start to the day. It reinforces the positive messgaing which is a constant in our school. Our young people are very aware of what bullying can look like and sound like and also know that everyone has a role in keeping our ourselves and others safe. Well done to everyone for taking part in this event!

We're full steam ahead with our Term 2 programmes with a Science focus in both Year 7 and 8. This gets well integrated through other curriculum areas to make for a fun and engaging term. Special thanks to Amadeo, our resident Scientist, for igniting (literally!), our imagination in the world around us!

We also have Year 8 camps continuing at Berwick. A big thank you to whanau for supporting as camp helpers. We couldn't do it without you!

As we head into the winter term with colder, darker days a couple of timely reminders.

Please do not send your child to school if they are unwell. It's not fun for your child, or for those who might pick up sick bugs.

If you pick up your child from the front gate, please be aware that bus stops and yellow lines are not suitable places to stop.

As always, please feel free to contact me if I can help in any way.

Ngā mihi nui
