Dear Parents and Caregivers, we have enjoyed an excellent start to the year, with everybody quickly settling into new routines and getting to know one another.

Thank you to all students for their good work and cooperative attitude.

The establishment of strong home/school relationships is very important to us. Thank you to all parents who have contributed their time to camps and visits so far, it’s very much appreciated.

To build on this, you are invited to meet your child’s teacher for an interview. Details of the interview booking process have been emailed to you and are also contained in this newsletter.

I am delighted with the uptake of extra curricular activities. Nearly 280 students are learning an instrument and numbers in choir, dance and kapahaka are well above usual.

Sports teams are also establishing with lots of interest from children wanting to try something new.

These activities really add flavour to our school and allow children to develop qualities such as teamwork, commitment and perseverance.

We’re set for another great year at Balmacewen and I look forward to meeting you as the year progresses.
