Welcome to Room 9

I have enjoyed meeting the new Room 9 students who will be joining me on their learning journey this year.
We have many great learning experiences in store for you, starting with school camp, tramps, swimming lessons and kiwi golf term.
To achieve the most out of this year, Balmacewen Intermediate has developed a values and skills approach to all activities. The 2017 School Values of Respect, Kindness, Perseverance and Excellence are at the centre of everything we do this year. We have already begun discussing and developing our own class definitions of what this values look like, sound like and feel like in Room 9.
The first 2 values of Respect and Kindness includes getting on with, helping, supporting and encouraging others. It is not only about what we do but how we do it! The second pair of values are Perseverance and Excellence. Displaying these values will ensure that you will be the best that you can be.
Balmacewen Intermediate has also developed the “Balmac Super 6” set of skills to develop independent learning. These 6 skills are…
- Aiming high and striving for excellence
- Working both collaboratively and independently
- Being a critical and reflective thinker.
- Persevering and being able to problem solve
- Being organised and ready to learn.
- Having a growth mind-set.
Balmacewen has many opportunities and I hope that you make the most of all the opportunities that are on offer. Having a positive can do attitude to all learning is a recipe for success.
Bring on 2017!
