Co2 Dragsters!

CO2 dragsters are cars made of wood and powered by a canister of CO2. We have been working in groups of six and each have been given a role to play during the designing and creating of the car.
The producers create the car. The Videographers film vlogs and take photos and the Graphic designers paint the car. I really like that everyone has a role when creating the car so you can see how everyone has contributed when the dragster is finished.
The first step was choosing a design that all of us liked and then we created our cardboard prototype. We had to choose a design that was aerodynamic and uses the four forces in its favour. We then created a LED light circuit using copper tape and attached it to our cardboard version. Once we were satisfied with our cardboard prototype we started measuring and sketching on our piece of wood. We have also drilled holes in which the axles will go in. To get a good idea of what the final product will look like, the graphic designers have also painted the cardboard prototype. After we drew our design onto our piece of wood, the producers of each group cut out the design and have started sanding and smoothing put the edges. During this time, the videographers have been busy editing and videoing our first and second vlogs.
I have been really enjoying creating and making our CO2 dragsters so far and I how everyone has to work as a team in order to successfully create a car. Everyone has been working really hard and I can tell that all of our efforts are going to pay off as everyone car has been coming together really well. Room 23 are eagerly anticipating race day on Monday when we will race all of our completed CO2 dragsters.
