Nature at it's best - a day at the Ecosanctuary
By Lisa Dixon | Posted: Monday August 27, 2018
Room 7 had a day trip to Orokonui where we worked with the education team to learn about our native birds and other species and about the impact of introduced plants and animals and the impact they had. We spent the in groups identifying plants, discussing NZ history and the impact of humans as well as other species on our local birds in particular. The afternoon also included a bush walk through the valley to blue skin bay through native bush, old forests and the opportunity to listen to native birds and spot them at the feeding stations. We will lucky to have such a nice day to appreciate this unique and precious sanctuary at our doorstep. Thanks to our knowledgeable guides and to our helpers Courtney, Brie, Aria and Abby who were on uni break and able to come and support us.
