Year 7 News

Our Year 7 classes are well underway with our "pARticipate" PBL theme underway. The term has started really well with many activities in the Arts happening in our classrooms with rotations in drama, dance and music,

It has been an excellent start to the term. Students and teachers are really enjoying the activities to celebrate the Arts as well as working with other classes and getting to know students well. It is a chance for some students to shine in areas they have strengths - as dancers, musicians and actors. All of the Year 7 group have also been working on a Samoan sasa and will be planning their own class one also to perform at an assembly later this term.  Our students will now be selecting an area to focus on for their PBL performance. Later this term each of our syndicates is planning a sharing afternoon or night where we will showcase some of the work we are doing and planning in class.

The first of our Year 7 EOTC activity for term four began this week with Room's 1 and 4 heading out to Long Beach for their rock climbing and beach activities. This is always a highlight of the year and a way our students can challenge themselves, but more importantly, how we see our students encouraging and supporting each other is really showing our school values of kindness and respect. Thank you to all of the parents and caregivers who have volunteered to support the classes to enable this trip to go ahead.

Another highlight this term has been our literacy programme with our focus on speeches. Not only is this an important writing component, it ties in with performance with oral language. Speaking in front of a large group is a challenge for many and we have been so impressed with the effort and quality of the presentations from our students. We congratulate those who have made it through to the speech finals!

Finally, once again as our year seems to be flying by, we would like to thank all of our whanau, families and caregivers for your ongoing support to both your child and our school programmes.

Ngā mihi nui
