Tenā koutou te whanau
We really have had a wonderful start to the year. It is such an important time as we establish school and class culture. Our school values have been to the fore with special emphasis on kindness as we get to make new friendships and feel happy and comfortable in new surroundings.
It's all about relationships and it has been impressive watching the many ways in which students show kindness and respect to others.
On a whole school level we confirmed our whanaungatanga with a lovely mihi whakatau. It was great to see our school working together to make a very enjoyable event. Special well done to those students who showed leadership here.
On that note, all classes are learning our Balmacewen haka. Thanks to Whaea Ana Pene for her expert tuition. Look out in a few weeks time as we come together as a school to perform our haka.
Year 7 camp season is upon us and I thank all parents and caregivers who are helping out. It is really appreciated. Without your contribution these activities would not happen. Let's hope for some continued good weather for the next couple of weeks.
You'll see in this newsletter an item regarding the Balmacewen Student Support Fund. It's an initiative to help us support children and families. It has always been our way to provide support wherever it is needed. I welcome all offers in helping us continue this good work.
I'm really enjoying the positive energy and tone around our school and look forward to the many adventures we'll have together this year.
As always, if I can assist in any way, please don't hesitate to call.
Ngā mihi mahana
