Our first stop was the Anatomy Museum. It was beneficial for us to have a look at various models and displays and consolidate the learning that we have been doing in class this term. Chris who is the Curator at the Museum was very helpful and answered all of our questions.
Next stop University of Otago School of Physical Education. Here we got to participate in various biomechanic activities and a few of us got to try out the swimming flume. A word class facility on our door step. This visit inspired many of our students to think about the science behind the sport and that sport can be a career option as well as being a lot of fun. The staff were amazing and so clued up on their area of expertise.
We then walked through the University of Otago to Forsyth Barr Stadium. Thanks to Sabine for taking us on a tour of this wonderful stadium. We got to sit in the changing rooms and take the walk that the All Blacks take. We got to go into the control room and the fancy corporate boxes.
Last of all to finish off we had a tour of Unipol then an opportunity to use their facilities.
A busy and fantastic day was had by all. It was nice to put the learning we have been doing in the classroom into context and delve deeper into the topics.
