Welcome to our Year 7 Whanau

It has been a fabulous (and hot and wet) start to our new crew of Year 7 pupils. They have been fully immersing themselves in learning the Balmac Way. There has been plenty of brainstorming, discussions and role plays around the Balmac SuperSix and our school values of perseverance, excellence, respect and kindness (PERK). We are really proud of how well our new pupils are settling in and we know it takes time to make the transition from Primary School but all pupils are making the effort and this is so pleasing to see.
We have a busy and active time coming up. Golf begins next week as do some swimming lessons. We have our school Mihi Whakatau next Friday and I encourage you to join us in being formally welcomed to the Balmacewen community. Classes have trips to Toitu in the coming week. This visit is directly linked to our Term 1 topic of Turangawaewae - our belonging and our identity. We also have a day visit to Arai te Uru marae and of course the highlight of our EOTC calendar - camp at Waihola! Your classroom teacher will give you specific dates that apply to your child's class at meet the teacher evening.
We are really looking forward to meeting you all next Wednesday evening.
Please don't hesitate to get it touch if I can assist you in any way.
