Tēna koutou katoa
It's hard to believe that we are halfway through the term. Given the challenges of the last few months I am delighted to report that we are in great heart.
Our return to Level 2 has been very smooth with students, staff and you, our parent community, coping very well. Apart from some changes and postponements to school events, we are very much business as usual.
We have a whole school curriculum focus to round out the term. The Dunedin Hospital Rebuild is our PBL focus. This is an amazing "real life" opportunity to engage with experts, create, design, prototype and present solutions with a future focus. Project Based Learning (PBL) is an authentic process where students are actively engaged through a variety of curriculum areas to develop new skills and knowledge. It's also exciting to watch students practise many of our Super Skills as they encounter these projects. I'm looking forward to seeing the many different projects come together over the next 5 weeks.
Thank you to the Balmacewen staff who continue to show great teamwork and resilience. They constantly go above and beyond to support and care for our students. I'm lucky to see this on a daily basis and feel both grateful and proud.
Let's hope for some good news in the next few days as we battle the virus and look toward a return to the freedoms of Level 1.
As always, please contact me if I can help in any way.
Ngā mihi nui
