Year 8 News

Building positive relationships has been the focus for our Year 8 students. This has seen classes discuss and implement their class expectations to ensure everyone has a fulfilling year.
A major focus has been the implementation of a caring and friendly manner to ensure the Year 7 students feel welcomed at their new school. It has been wonderful to see so many Year 8 students display the maturity and leadership skills to ensure this has happened. The Mihi Whakatau along with buddy class activities has undoubtedly helped with settling the Year 7 students in. We have all been delighted with the enthusiasm and positivity that the students have displayed over the last 4 weeks.
The start of the year is often a chaotic time with so many events on the timetable. We really do appreciate your involvement in ensuring that we are able to run our programmes. Our first excursion is the upcoming Museum Trip. This is our igniter for our Ka Mua Ka Muri Unit (Looking back in order to move forward). The key question we will refer to during this term is "How can understanding our past improve our future decision making?" We will be looking at the historic events that have shaped our country and discussing future changes.
Working together, in partnership, is fundamental to your child’s development. We look forward to meeting you at the up-coming parent-teacher interviews where discussions will ensure a greater understanding of your child and their needs.
