Girls cricket win Otago final

Last week we played Queenstown Primary School on the University of Otago Oval. It was exciting for the girls to play at such a venue and they definitely weren't overawed by the occasion.
We batted first, getting off to a great start with Elise (14 runs) and Babet (38 runs) having a 56 run partnership. Some quick hitting by Elisabeth (14 runs) and Grace (12 runs) got us through to a very competitive total of 123/3.
Queenstown made a good start to their run-chase and at a one point looked to be doing it comfortably. However, after some individual brilliance in the field with a runout by Kate we managed to start to take control. After some tight spells of bowling they finished things off by bowling Queenstown out for 62 off of 15.3 overs. Key bowlers were Elise with 3 wickets for 6 runs and Elisabeth with 2 for 10.
It's been a fabulous season for the girls and they should be extremely proud of their efforts. Come November they'll be representing Balmacewen with pride for the 3rd time in a row at the national tournament at Lincoln.
