On Wednesday night the Year 8 students celebrated their learning for Term One by presenting their Term One Survivor Zoo Inquiry to friends and family.

Despite the weather the school hall was buzzing with excitement as the Year 8 students presented their Term One ZOO animal ASPIRE inquiries. Throughout this term the students have been studying the animal kingdom starting with the context of the Rocky Seashore and looking at adaptations of sea creatures. Following this we looked at butterflies and other animals that live in the Rainforest when we visited the Butterfly house. Some students also visited the Animal Attic for inspiration and ideas for their Inquiry.

The challenge was to choose and research a habitat and animals that exist there looking at their special features and adaptations that aid their survival. Students then needed to invent a new species that could exist and survive in that ecosystem. Students worked on their models and habitats as well as showing their learning and sharing information on their creatures in a variety of ways - documentaries, slide shows, booklets, posters, using animation or coding apps. We were impressed with many who took on the challenge of trying something new learning skills in our CAMLAB with the 3D printer also.

Thank you to all the parents and caregivers who supported their child throughout this term. We were so impressed with the standard of work and the evidence of the process that students shared on our Zoo night. Thank you also to everyone who came out on such a wet and miserable night to celebrate with us the success and learning journey of our students.
