Year 7 News

Discovery is our focus in Term 2 and all classes have been hands on discovering indeed!
There has been problem solving, making and creating, experimenting, hypothesising and lots of questioning. The focus is on science and thinking like a scientist and we are finding all children are asking rich questions based on their observations during an experiment or problem solving challenge. They are using the language that you may see in a written experiment such as aim, hypothesis, method, results and conclusion, as part of their discussions during class time.
We have loved watching Full Steam Ahead evolve each week and seeing the children work collaboratively with each other, challenge their thinking and growth mindset skills and develop some very creative projects.
Beginning next week we have Jack Green from NZ Rugby League coming into school and taking all Y7 classes for a number of sessions of the basics of rugby league. This is part of our Term 2 'large ball skills' unit and we are excited about this 4 week unit.
Keep an eye out for a date for our upcoming pubertal change meeting for our Year 7 parent community. This is an opportunity for Year 7 parents to learn about the Term 3 pubertal change unit and what is actually covered. We will be emailing home a date for this in the next few weeks.
As always, thank you for your ongoing support throughout this term.
Beth Downie and the Year 7 team.
