Student Accounts

Kia ora, please read this important reminder.

Dear Parents and Caregivers

The final school invoice will be sent to you soon. Unfortunately there are still a large number of unpaid accounts which have put our school finances under undue pressure.

At present we have $71,564 of unpaid student accounts. I’m sure you’ll agree that this is an unsettling figure.

Unfortunately some may view school accounts as “optional” and pay nothing. This means school funds destined for other areas are diverted to make up the difference. Student accounts are for all activities and events your child takes part in throughout the year. We run at a very lean margin and aim to cover costs.

There are unavoidable costs in education and when combined with sports subscriptions and music tuition, can make for an expensive time. However all debt affects the resources that we can provide and the level of support we can give to those who need it most.

You’ll also note that we do not ask parents to run a fair, fundraise or sell raffles. We budget carefully and effectively and obviously expect that student accounts will be paid. What I hope it does show however, is the amount of debt we carry and how we rely on your continued support to run Balmacewen as we do.

Thank you in advance to those that do pay in full, it is very much appreciated.

If you would like to discuss your account, please feel free to contact the school office.

Yours sincerely

Andrew Hunter
