Message from the Principal

With three weeks to go inTerm Two there is plenty to look forward to.

It has been an excellent term. Our science focus is drawing to its conclusion with our school science fair and it has been great to see the variety of creative and interesting investigations being undertaken.  Ultimately it is a test of time management, organisation and perseverance. Skills that will transfer to many other learning and life experiences we hope.

Our building programme continues to track well. The new facilities have certainly changed the face of our school and it is great to see our staff and students making the most of their new surroundings. The new areas give teachers tremendous flexibility in their work  environment depending on the type of activity to be undertaken.  Work on the final extension is now underway and we look forward to mid term three when we should all be back to normal.

On another note, I have been watching Why am I?  on TVNZ. This series highlighting the work of the Dunedin Study is excellent and should be compulsory viewing for those interested in education.  If you haven't managed to catch it, you can watch it on demand. I highly recommend it!

Teachers are busy writing mid-year reports at the moment. These are progress reports designed to highlight areas of good performance as well as next steps in learning. They will provide you with information to take into mid-year interviews which will be held early in term three. As always if you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact us.

We also have a newly elected Board of Trustees. Thank you to all parents for putting their name forward for this important role. Congratulations to Kate Savage, Nigel Rickerby, Nicky Masters, Craig Cumming and Anthony Rowcroft.

As always, please contact me if I can help in any way.

Kind Regards

Andrew Hunter
