Winter Sport Wrap Up

Thank you to all our volunteer coaches and managers who supported a sports team this winter. The students wouldn't be able to participate without your support.
Student comments:
This was my first year playing badminton and I've had an amazing time. I've learnt heaps from the lessons and the tournaments are great, letting me play games against my friends and allowing me to meet new people ~ Cameron Bond
This year, table tennis has been a wonderful experience. I have had tons of fun and really enjoyed playing the game. I've made new friends, improved my skills and knowledge, and above all, had a good time. If you're a Year 7, I highly recommend taking up a winter (or summer) sport as it teaches you many life skills and you'll have an immense amount of fun.~Aston Lawrence
Playing hockey for Balmac was an exhilarating and fun experience. Every Friday afternoon we would go down to the turf and play against other schools and teams we also got to participate in two different exchanges with John McGlashan College and Southland boys we lost to Southland boys and tied after 5 minutes extra time to JMC ~ Mason Bond
Representing Balmac in basketball was an exciting and enjoyable experience for me and my teammates. Having knowledgeable, and supportive coaches helped us reach our full potential, and have heaps of fun every week. John McGlashan hosted an exchange earlier this term, which was a blast. The Year 8 Boys basketball game was the last game of the day, and everybody packed into their gym to watch, which made for a thrilling atmosphere. Balmac won the game, capping off an exciting day. ~ Will Deerness
Over the winter season, about 100 Balmacewen students played in the DNC Netball competition on Thursdays at the Edgar Centre. The games were lots of fun and we finished the season with a festival tournament. A small number of players also started umpiring this year and did a great job each week officiating. The Balmacewen Gold and Yellow teams got to play in 2 winter exchanges with Southland Girls and Columba College. ~ Aleija Tuakana
