Library OPAC online

This term we have been going though aspects of the OPAC. Students can now reserve books, search databases and monitor their own borrowing. Not only can they do this from any place in the school, but also from home. To connect to the above platform go to our website, click on About and select the Library tab, then follow the link. Easy as!
This also means students who don't have resources for inquiry at home, can take advantage of searching Te Ara (New Zealand Encyclopedia), Digital NZ and other world wide databases. We have been learning to "smart search" during Library sessions this term. We have also been looking at how the Dewey System works so that students are more confident when looking for a specific book in the Library.
The book buying this term targets our Sport collection as well as continuing to build the graphic novel selection and adding great fiction titles to the Library. I've purchased several football, rugby and basketball resources which are all in hot demand and on reserve all the time, biographies proving especially popular. Of course, with students having their own library accounts and log ins, this is something they can also manage from either home or school.
