Kia Ora Parents and Caregivers
At the start of the term, our Year 8 focus was on being a digital citizen. We were thrilled to have Rory from Attitude NZ come in and talk to the students about this very important topic. The focus was extremely positive with tips on how to safely navigate being online. His number 1 tip to ensure the students are digital citizens was to be positive when online. This eliminates all negative posts and comments. He also talked about the importance of sleep. Having a recharging hub in the lounge area where family devices are stored at night was another message he pushed. This allows your child to have an uninterrupted night's sleep. Thanks Rory for an awesome presentation.
The recent highlights of our Year 8 Programme included…
Our skills and drills day at the Edgar Centre. The Otago Polytech Students were very organised and polished in the delivery of their lessons. The skills taught include drills from a variety of sports (hockey, rugby, football, and basketball).
The trip to the picture theatre to see the movie 2040. The important idea raised in this documentary was that the technology for addressing climate change already exists. It was refreshing to view the solutions that are happening around the world. This visit was a great catalyst for rich discussions around our Term 3 Kaitiakitanga Topic.
