TOUCH

Balmacewen Intermediate school enters about 9 teams to play in the Oval Junior Touch competition held on a Thursday afterschool during Term 1. Students have to find their own way to and from the Oval. Games are usually between 4.15pm and 5.45pm.
The uniform is the school PE uniform and the top teams are given a school Touch singlet to use. Either sneakers or touch boots are worn as you cannot wear bare feet.
The fees are $25.00 per student and this needs to be paid before they play by direct credit or to the office as it cannot be put on their account.
The Touch Badge is earned by playing 2 terms of touch and taking part in the practices and games. It is important to note that if students sign up and commit to a team they need to play right through as the school touch season does go to the end of term and many winter codes have started their practices before the end of term 1.
We tend to have a good number of touch teams at Balmacewen and we NEED some coaches please. We usually have referees for you so it is more about managing subs than anything else and encouraging the basics.
The draw will be up on Block 1's Learning Street and on the school website. Touch is played in all types of weather, so players need to be prepared to play in showery conditions. However if it is cancelled they make the call at 2pm and we will let the students know at this time.
We are holding trials at school for those wanting to trial for A or B or Mixed teams. We also have social teams for those who just want to have some fun and play touch with their friends. The days we hold the trials will be in the notices.
