Year 8 Art G & T

Year 8 artists have begun creating a range of NZ flora and fauna themed artworks.
We began our very first G&T session with a brainstorm. Any idea put forward was added to the massive brainstorm the team was creating.“Any idea’s a good idea,” Ms Brady says with enthusiasm.
The pieces had to be flora and fauna themed but with a twist of the artist's’ choosing. Some of the ‘themes’ or ‘twists’ chosen were underwater, futuristic and gangsta. We then had to depict a scene involving NZ flora and fauna with the ‘theme’ that we chose. In groups of about 3 or 4 we started sketching and sorting out the composition of our pieces. Painted on round, wooden boards, we are focusing on expanding and adapting our ideas to be presented in this format. Ms Brady says, “A good artist has an idea. A great artist can develop it.”
Art G&T will be on every Friday morning until all groups have designed their pieces, then Art G&T will resume in Term 3 when we create the final artworks. This is a great opportunity to showcase some of our year 8 students’ talents.
When completed, the pieces will hang in the office foyer for all to see. Art G&T 2017 has begun with a bang!
