Warm Pasifika greetings to you all on this Tongan Language Week!

Mālō e lelei

There's plenty happening around Balmacewen and as you'll see in this newsletter, some fantastic effort and results in a range of activities.

I start by acknowledging and thanking all teachers, parents and caregivers for supporting our winter sports programme. As the competitions come to an end for the season, everyone should be rightly proud of their efforts. A big thank you to all coaches and managers for giving your time and energy to support our teams. I also acknowledge the great work of Bella James, our Sports Coordinator for providing great support and organisation to our students.

Also on that note, I wish to thanks and acknowledge the contribution of Leia Silby. Leia is leaving Balmacewen to move to a Deputy Principal role at Pasadena Intermediate in Auckland. She has been a valued senior leader in our school and we wish her all the very best with the shift! We welcome in McKenzie Jacques who will complete the year in Room 23.

Our Kapa Haka and Pasifika groups are getting closer to Polyfest time. It has been great watching the progress and confidence in our tamariki. My thanks to all staff and tutors who give their time so generously. We look forward to the performance!

I do draw your attention to the notice regarding a Parent evening with Our Kids Online. Please support our efforts to help you as parents in navigating the complex issue of online safety.

Have a great weekend.

Mālō aupito
