Please read on for information on how to register your child for ICAS assessments

Kia Ora Parents/Caregivers

There are a number of ICAS Competitions being held this year. These include opportunities in Science, Writing, Digital Technologies, Spelling, English and Mathematics. All ICAS exams will be online, so it would be good if students can have a chromebook or laptop on the day of their assessment. School devices will be available for students to use if needed. If your child is sitting the writing or spelling examinations they must have a device other than a chromebook on which Janison replay can be loaded. There will be a limited number of school devices available for these exams. These will be held during school time between 5 August and 30 August.

The ICAS assessments provide an opportunity for all students to gain a measure of their own achievement in an external assessment situation. These competitions take place in schools throughout Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific region.

Each child will receive a certificate and a letter indicating which questions they answered correctly.

Certificates are awarded for each level as follows:

High Distinction - top 1% in New Zealand

Distinction - next 10% in New Zealand

Credit - next 20% in New Zealand

Achievement - to the students who are placed in the top 20% of their school

Participation - all other participants

If you would like your child to sit one or more of these assessments please visit the parent portal. Payment is made directly on this portal. Last date for payment is Monday 29 July
