The Year Seven Art students have completed their first unit which is making a bear from clay. Working three dimensionally is challenging for many students. Next they explored painting and made painted flowers with each petal exhibiting a different painting technique. And now we are onto a variety of painting projects where we develop ideas: peacocks, big cats and domestic cats.
Year Eight art students have been honing their skills of drawing and painting inspired by the Belgium Artist Roa. They develop their observational drawing skills using a variety of drawing tools to help them see better. Next they develop their painting skills: brush control, tone, blending and mar making. We are just beginning our unit Artists' Flats where student design a house where 3–4 different artists flat together. This is an exciting project and give the students lots of scope to develop ideas, explore and hone their making skills.
