South Island Waterpolo Tournament

Over the weekend there were teams from all over the South Island completing. Our Balmac Gold team was playing well against some very strong opposition and managed to win our pool play with games against James Hargest, Canterbury Combined and West Melton. We had a very strong game against Southland Boys winning 6-2 before progressing into the final.

We came up against Cobham A in the final. It was a very tense game and a lot closer than the final score indicates - holding them goalless in two of the four quarters and being the closest team to them over the tournament. After a very intense battle in the water we went down 5-2. The team came away with a well earned and deserved silver medal

The team was a pleasure to look after over the weekend, they grew in confidence and ability, especially our development players, and we displayed the Balmac values the whole weekend - especially perseverance. I would also like to acknowledge Aiden and Hannah who were also selected for the Tournament team with Hannah earning the MVP female for the weekend.

We would like to thank Toby and William our coaches for the team over the weekend as well as our parent support crew!
