Perseverance, Excellence, Respect and Kindness

It's hard not to be inspired by the efforts of our New Zealand Olympic team. Whether the athletes have achieved their goals or not, the commitment and determination they have shown has been great to see.
From a Balmacewen perspective it was great to see Kelly Brazier (Womens 7's ) and Kane Russell (Hockey) perform so well. I remember both here as students and it's fair to say that there are plenty of very similar students running around Balmacewen right now. It does make you think about the unique set of circumstances that need to be present in order for an individual to become elite. Our Balmacewen values would be a good place to start I'd think.
New Zealand runner Nicky Hamblin displayed fantastic kindness and respect when she helped an other runner up after a fall. It has rightly captured our attention as it demonstrates the very best of Olympic spirit.
As you will see in this newsletter there are many examples of our Balmacewen values on display. Congratulations to all students who have worked hard and achieved well. Thank you also to the teachers and coaches for their guidance and support.
The weather is warming up and the days are getting a little longer as we climb out of the winter season. Our building programme is progressing well and should be complete by the end of this term. there are still many exciting opportunities coming up this year and I encourage students to challenge themselves in this way.
As always, please contact me if I can help in any way.
Kind Regards
Andrew Hunter
